Our stove tiles have the decisive advantage of ceramic heat storage capacity and, thanks to their special mass, can evenly distribute the heat over many hours. The gentle heat rays heat people and the surface of solid objects in the living space, but not the air. The resulting effect of radiant heat leads to an even room temperature without overheating. The air retains its freshness and cleanliness and a healthy, pleasant room climate is created.

Each of our tiles is made by master craftsmen from the natural products of earth, water, fire and air. Ceramics consist of clay with additives such as kaolin, quartz sand and minerals. After shaping, the tile is coated with a glaze and fired. As a result, the glaze forms a glass-like protective layer, which we call the ceramic surface.
Sustainable energy storageThe special manufacturing process gives the porous tile its outstanding heat storage capacity. It stores the energy of the amount of wood and releases it into the room as radiant heat over many hours. Infrared-C-Radiation

Why this heat has such a relaxing effect can be explained by the nature of our skin. Only C-wavelengths are absorbed by the upper layer of the skin (epidermis), where the free ends of the autonomic nervous system are located.  The gentle ceramic radiant heat - precisely the long-wave infrared C-radiation - promotes relaxation and recuperation of body and mind via the autonomic nervous system.

Electromagnetic spectrum

Every body radiates energy in the form of electromagnetic radiation. When rays hit the surfaces of bodies and objects, the energy they contain is released in the form of heat. The longer the wavelength of these waves, the softer and more comfortable we feel the heat. The long-wave infrared radiation of the heat storage ceramics is approximately 9,000 nm, which corresponds to the infrared C range in the electromagnetic spectrum. We humans find radiant heat in this long-wave C range particularly pleasant and soothing.

Heat storing ceramic tile vs Sanitary tile

Heat storing ceramic tiles are not to be confused withsanitary tiles.  Heat storing ceramic tiles - like stove ceramics - are 3-dimensional and have a special ceramic mass that regulates the heat transfer evenly. They therefore emit heat into the room in the form of gentle long-wave heat radiation. In contrast to heat storing ceramic tiles, modern sanitary tiles are 2-dimensional and dense. This means they do not store heat. Sanitary tiles fulfill other important tasks, but they do not have the advantages of ceramic radiant heat. 

This makes heat storing ceramic tiles the ideal material for tiled stoves. It provides the gentle and healthy warmth that we humans find so comforting.
